Founded on the campus of Oklahoma State University in 1919, Kappa Kappa Psi operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society for college and university band members.  Our goals are to provide bands with organized and concentrated service activities; and to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership and music.  With a membership of more than 5,000 active brothers, Kappa Kappa Psi has chapters on more than 200 campuses.

Tau Beta Sigma is a highly respected co-educational music organization that is comprised of over 140 collegiate chapters and more than 2,000 collegiate members with a balanced representation of women and men. The Sorority operates primarily as a student service and leadership recognition society whose chief aim is to assist the Director of Bands in developing the leadership and enthusiasm that they require of their band. Our goals are not only to provide the band with organized and concentrated service activities, but to give our membership valid and wholesome experiences in organization, leadership, and social contacts.

Position Overview
The Membership & Expansion Coordinator is responsible for administrative tasks related to ΚΚΨ and ΤΒΣ membership education programs, Chapter discipline, and other initiatives related to Chapter operations and Petitioning Group development.

The Membership & Expansion Coordinator is a full-time position located at the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Benefits include health insurance (with vision and dental) and a 401(k) Employee Saving Plan.

General Responsibilities

Joint Duties

Chapter Support
  • Communicate regularly with the National Executive Director and the National Council concerning Chapter issues and the follow up guidance provided to Chapters.
  • Review and provide guidance for revisions of Chapter constitutions and other Chapter documents to National Vice Presidents for Membership and Expansion (VPME) as requested.
  • Assist Chapter Officers in the filing of Chapter Personnel Reports, Fall Activity Reports, Initiate Registration Forms, Chapter Personnel Updates, Spring Activity Reports and Graduating Senior Reports when requested.
  • Assist with the processing of Chapter Personnel Reports, Fall Activity Reports, Initiate Registration Forms, Chapter Personnel Updates, Spring Activity Reports and Graduating Senior Reports.
Chapter and Individual Discipline
  • Create and send status change letters related to discipline issues involving Chapters, and members of both ΚΚΨ & ΤΒΣ.
  • Update and maintain digital and physical Chapter Files.
  • Assist the National Councils and appointed investigators in the scheduling of investigations, when needed.
  • Investigate violations of Risk Management policies at local Chapters, when appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly with National Councils concerning discipline issues and status changes.
  • Assist the National Presidents and VPMEs with follow-ups to “Report a Problems”
Chapter Education & Membership Education Curricula
  • Serve as a point of contact in the National Headquarters for membership education programs.
  • Receive and process Membership Candidate Registration forms.
  • Serve as a member of the Curriculum Committees, as needed.
Petitioning Group Programs
  • Communicate and assist new and potential Petitioning Groups within the guidelines of the respective organization’s expansion program.
  • Receive and distribute all Petitioning Group applications and fees to the appropriate parties.
  • Work with the VPMEs to ensure that Petitioning Groups are meeting all requirements and deadlines of the expansion program.
  • Coordinate the creation, review and approval process for petitioning documents, Chapter constitutions, membership cards, shingles and charters.
  • Participate in the creation and updating of Petitioning Group applications, handbooks, etc., as needed.

Tau Beta Sigma Only Duties

ΤΒΣ Chapter Visitation Assistants
  • Assist in the on-boarding of new CVAs, working in conjunction with the ΤΒΣ National VPME and the ΤΒΣ National President.
  • Maintain the digital and physical files of CVA reports.

Kappa Kappa Psi Only Duties

ΚΚΨ Chapter Field Representative
  • Assist in the on-boarding and selection of new CFRs alongside the National Executive Director and the ΚΚΨ National VPME
  • Work with the CFRs to summarize findings and trends for use by the National Council
Chapter Support
  • Review CFR visit reports to help identify Chapter issues.
  • Assist with the on-boarding of Friend and Advocates, working in conjunction with the ΚΚΨ National President, VPME, and any appointed volunteers.

Perform other duties as assigned to meet the objectives of the National Headquarters.

Qualifications

  • Initiated membership in ΚΚΨ and ΤΒΣ is preferred. Members of other fraternities and sororities with relevant experience, or those with an interest in student affairs work, are also encouraged to apply.
  • Be detailed and creative.
  • Be able to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects consistently.
  • Exercise a clear and articulate approach to all types of communication and problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with Google Docs and Drive products, Salesforce, and Adobe Creative Suite is desired.
  • Experience in higher education or related fields is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable speaking on a telephone. Experience communicating with higher education faculty and administration is preferred.
  • Background screening required.
  • Education needed: Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Working Conditions

The National Headquarters Membership and Expansion Coordinator position is a full-time position primarily located at the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Attendance at National Conventions and occasional District Conventions is expected. Regular communication with the National Executive Director, National Councils, and other leadership is required.

Pay schedule: Standard Rate of 40 hours a week/$18.27-$22.60 an hour, depending on experience.

Welcome to our new Senior Manager of External Affairs for Tau Beta Sigma

The National Council and Board of Trustees of Tau Beta Sigma are proud to announce the selection of our new Senior Manager of External Affairs, Mrs. Dollie McDonald O’Neill.

No stranger to Tau Beta Sigma, Dollie McDonald O’Neill is a proud Life member of Tau Beta Sigma Sorority and an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas where she was initiated into the Psi Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. While at the U of A, Dollie was member of the Razorback Marching Band & Color Guard, Concert Band, Basketball Pep Band and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Public Relations. After graduating, Dollie served the sorority on the national level as National Chapter Field Representative from 2000-2002 and in all 4 elected National Council Offices from 2003-2011. She was then Elected to the Board of Trustees, serving as Capital Development Co-Chair, Vice-Chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2011-2017. Dollie collaborated on several projects during her National Council service, including initiatives focused on growth, strategic planning, marketing, finances, communication, and improving joint relations. One of her favorite and proudest projects to date was Co-Chairing and planning all the Fundraising efforts for the Wava Memorial Gardens and launching the 13 Days of Wava!

Out in the field, Dollie’s career experiences span over 20 years in fundraising, management, recruiting, hiring and project development in non-profit organizations and corporate companies. Career Highlights include Traveling to 135 Chapters while serving as the Sorority’s 4th National Chapter Field Representative, Retail Management for Victoria Secret Stores, Recruiter for City Government, Recruiter for Department of Energy, Executive Director for the Non-Profit Philmont Staff Association and working 10 summers while living at Philmont Scout Ranch. The most important job of all is being a mom to two teenagers and being involved within her community. Other notable volunteer roles have been serving as Chair to local Head Start Policy Council and being elected to the School Board when residing in Cimarron, New Mexico. Most recently, Dollie is a new member of Board of Directors for KCM Cares, a non-profit in Maryland dedicated to the delivery of equitable, compassionate healthcare in the community including care for vulnerable populations.

Dollie’s career passions are fundraising and growth strategies to achieve goals for a greater impact of the organization’s mission and vision. Dollie’s Sorority fundraising highlights have been raising money for the Wava Memorial Gardens, Stanley G. Finck NIB Fund, and Tau Beta Sigma Giving Tuesday. Dollie’s Executive Director fundraising highlights include raising over $400K for the Philmont Wildfire Conservation fund, Philmont Staff Association Giving Tuesday and reaching the $1.5 million goal for the Building HOmE Capital Campaign for the Philmont Staff Association.

Dollie is a Life Member of the Psi Chapter, a charter member of the TBSAA and has numerous Honorary memberships in both Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi, including being an honorary of her brother chapter, Lambda Chapter. Dollie now resides in Minnesota with her family and in her free time you can find her swimming or canoeing in a lake, volunteering for her kid’s sports concessions and cheering them on. Dollie also loves to travel with her family, and blog about her travel experiences.

The Senior Manager of External Affairs position is a newly created position for Tau Beta Sigma.  This position is designed to assist our elected national leadership in achieving strategic, long-term and annual goals. This position will focus on the long-term direction of Tau Beta Sigma’s fund development and provide aid in representing our organization at conventions, conferences and events.

We are very grateful for Steve’s nearly 10 years of dedicated service to our organizations in this role, and his many years serving in other leadership positions in our organizations. Welcome to our New Publications and Media Manager

The National Headquarters is pleased to announce that Mr. Thomas Bradford has joined the staff as our Publications and Media Manager.

Mr. Bradford is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK and calls Tulsa home. With more than 25 years of graphic design and project management experience, he brings his talents to the National Headquarters and will assume the duties of publishing The Podium, managing our national websites, and creating the images and documents we need to represent our national programs and events.

Thomas is father to four grown children and Papa to four grandsons. He enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible; running, camping, hiking, sailing, golfing, playing or refereeing soccer, working on a project, or just relaxing on the patio.

We are excited to have Thomas join our team. Look for him at a district or national convention this year.
